| Little Scrowlie |
 |
Little Scrowlie, from whom the comic derives its name, is a small, grumpy
black cat who lives with Elisabeth and Sabrina in a live/work loft somewhere
in Oakland, California. Her main interests are eating, sleeping, and twisting
the poetry of Edgar Allen Poe into mopey nonsense. Known as "Scrowlie", for
short.
|
| Elisabeth |
 |
Elisabeth, Scrowlie's handmaiden, is an aspiring artist,
fashion goth, and beneficiary of a large trust fund, allowing her to live in
and seep in the lead atmosphere of an ultra-expensive live/work dump in an old
warehouse section of Oakland.
|
| Sabrina |
 |
Sabrina is Elisabeth's roommate. A respected MS Frontpage web "programmer"
in the computer industry, and party to thousands of shares of stock in her
employer, her future is laid out before her. Not seen much, what with the
80 hour work weeks.

| James |
 |
James, Swans' biggest fan, is a self-proclaimed occult
expert. He knows all about the evil that lurks just beneath the surface of
everyday life. Oh, does he ever.
|
| White Cat |
 |
Scrowlie's friend (they met in issue #1), the White Cat is her opposite.
White Cat (or WC for short) is curious to the point of being dangerous, and
to Scrowlie's constant mortification, cheerful to boot.
|
| Timmy |
 |
Timmy is the only (semi-)human character in the comic who
is actually from Oakland. He's also dead, having been killed in a tragedy
involving the erection of the live/work loft in which Sabrina, Elisabeth and
Scrowlie live. Scrowlie hates him, but WC thinks he's cute.

| CD |
 |
CD is the villainess. Nobody's quite sure why, even after she explains
herself in issue #3, but she's definitely the bad one.

| Cuthbie |
 |
Cuthbie is a semi-figment of CD's imagination. The living, breathing
embodiment of Cthulhu, were Cthulhu small and harmless. His purpose is largely
to serve tea to CD's guests.
|
| Shoggoth |
 |
Not characters, per se, but they fill an important role.
Cuthbie's less friendly counterparts, but not imaginary.
